This April 1, 2018, enhanced-color picture of Jupiter’s Nice Pink Spot was captured by NASA’s Juno spacecraft. The picture is a mixture of three separate pictures taken as Juno carried out its 12th shut flyby of the planet.
The Nice Pink Spot, a swirling oval of clouds twice as extensive as Earth, has been noticed on the enormous planet for greater than 300 years. In 2021, findings from Juno confirmed that Jupiter’s storms are far taller than anticipated, with some extending 60 miles (100 kilometers) under the cloud tops and others, together with the Nice Pink Spot, extending over 200 miles (350 kilometers).
