Le Mars competes at MRAC tennis tournament | Sentinel

OMAHA, Neb. — The Le Mars Neighborhood tennis groups competed within the Missouri River Actions Convention event. 

A pair of fourth place finishes led the Bulldogs on the event. 

Ellaina Decide was fourth within the ladies singles bracket. She opened with an 8-5 win over Olivia Van Soelen of Council Bluffs Thomas Jefferson. Within the quarterfinal spherical, Decide received 8-3 over Bishop Heelan’s Maria McGowan. Decide, the No. 2 seed of the bracket, fell to the No. 3 seed, Carley Rooney of Sergeant Bluff-Luton, within the semifinals. Rooney received that contest 8-5. Decide performed within the third place match towards the No. 1 seed within the event, Junie Roach of Sioux Metropolis West, who was upset by unseeded Maria Erneste of Bishop Heelan, the eventual event winner. Roach received the match 8-5 over Decide to take third. 

The opposite Le Mars singles entry, Ava Penne, was paired with top-seeded Roach within the first spherical and misplaced 8-1. Penne then dropped her first spherical comfort match by a rating of 8-4 to Lydia Dix of Council Bluffs Abraham Lincoln. 

Within the boys singles event, Evan Pratt completed fourth, matching his seed getting into the competitors. He opened the bracket with an 8-0 win over Atticus Walker of CBAL. He then beat Brayton Ouellette of Sergeant Bluff-Luton by a rating of 8-3 within the quarterfinals. 

Pratt misplaced his semifinal spherical match to top-seeded Easton Lubarski of Bishop Heelan by a rating of 8-3. Lubarski ended up taking second after being doubled up by No. 3 seed Tyler Grove of SB-L within the first place match.

Within the third place match, Pratt fell 8-2 to Chris Wailes of CBAL, who was the No. 2 seed getting into the event. 

The opposite Le Mars singles entry was Devin DeVall. He misplaced his opening spherical match 8-4 to Sioux Metropolis West’s Lance Weerheim. DeVall saved alive on the comfort facet of the bracket for a couple of rounds. He beat East’s Carter Modlin 8-5 after which beat North’s Kyler Nieto 8-6. DeVall’s run got here to an finish within the comfort semifinals with a loss to Bishop Heelan’s Brady Schultz in an 8-4 rating. 

In doubles play, Maggie Wright and Myrna Bowen received their first spherical match 8-4 over the CBAL duo of Alexa Lodge and Emmerson Spetman. The Le Mars pair then confronted the highest seed within the bracket, Sioux Metropolis North’s Jaden Bower and Grace Hodge, falling 8-1. Within the comfort facet of the bracket, the Bulldogs fell 8-5 to CBTJ’s tandem of Alyssa Koppold and Mylee Minturn. 

The opposite Le Mars staff was Haley Feldman and Alexa Wurth. They misplaced 8-2 within the first spherical to East’s Mattie Wineland and Mia Colella. The pair did advance a couple of rounds in consolations. They received 8-6 over North’s Alayna Elgert and Audrey Raveling. They then topped CBAL’s Zoe Mendoza and Lexi Nelson 8-2. Within the comfort semifinals, the pair had their run come to an finish towards Olivia Winter and Lily Guntren of Sergeant Bluff-Luton by a rating of 8-2. 

In boys doubles, Ian Penne and Kyle Khemraj received their first match 8-5 over Bishop Heelan’s Matthew Lin and Joseph Stanek. The Bulldogs fell within the quarterfinals to the No. 4 seed within the bracket, Carter Gehling and Dylan Janzen of SB-L.

Le Mars bounced again with a comfort win 8-1 over Hunter Albertus and Cooper Schaa of CBAL. The staff ended up falling to the eventual fifth place staff from East, Jack Ritchie and Logan Cherkas, by a rating of 8-2 within the comfort semifinals. 

The opposite Le Mars doubles staff misplaced each of their matches. The duo of Ryder Mullally and Joe Rasmussen fell quick 8-6 to Ryan Smith and Derek Runions of CBTJ within the first spherical. The staff misplaced by an similar rating to North’s Beckett Teller and Derek Folchert within the comfort spherical.
