Members of NASA’s Mars Exploration Program, the European House Company, the Australian House Company, and the Australian Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Analysis Group are in Western Australia’s Pilbara area to research “stromatolites,” the oldest confirmed fossilized lifeforms on Earth. They focus on the significance of geological context when selecting sampling websites and guaranteeing the integrity of a pattern’s organic origin whereas contemplating plans for future missions to deliver Mars samples to Earth.
