Bill requiring partisan elections ratified in Madison, Haywood

New booths for filling out paper ballots greeted voters in Marshall Nov. 5.

MARSHALL – With the passage of Senate Invoice 9, which would require Marshall and Mars Hill municipal election candidates to declare partisanship within the September main election and in November’s common election, the native Board of Elections held an emergency assembly to make sure its geese have been in a row.

In response to County Elections Director Jacob Ray, the Madison County Board of Elections held an emergency assembly Aug. 17 by which it reopened the candidate submitting interval.

Candidates may have till 5 p.m. Aug. 25 to submit their candidacy.

The invoice is not going to take impact in Sizzling Springs till 2025.
