LE MARS—Waunita M. Hoss, 85, of Le Mars, handed away on Friday, Nov. 17, 2023, at her residence surrounded by her household.
Waunita Margaret Guerdet was born on March 5, 1938, on a farm close to Armstrong, the daughter of Leo Henry and Florence Marie (Flier) Guerdet. She attended Seneca (Iowa) Excessive College the place she graduated. She continued her schooling at Briar Cliff School in Sioux Metropolis, the place she studied nursing. It was at Briar Cliff that she met Kenneth Hoss at a faculty dance. They have been united in marriage on July 5, 1958, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Armstrong.
The couple lived in Le Mars and Waunita discovered work as a nurse’s aide at Sacred Coronary heart Hospital from 1957 to 1958. She can also be remembered by sisters and brothers-in-law Loretta (late husband Richard – April 1991) Hoss, Daryl and Karen Hoss, Carol (Hoss) and Sam Risolvato, Mary Jane (Hoss) Butler, Mike (late spouse – Joanne) Frick, Bob (late spouse – Patricia) Cornelsen and Jayne (late husband, Dwight – June 2023) Guerdet; in addition to many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in loss of life by her dad and mom; her son, Mark Hoss (1984); son-in-law, Mike Durrett (2023); her brothers, Douglas Guerdet, Dennis Guerdet and Dwight Guerdet and two sisters in infancy, Mary and Bernadette; in-laws, Frank and Clara Hoss; brothers and sisters-in-law, Joanne (Hoss) Frick, Elaine (Guerdet) Herker, Richard Hoss, Donald Hoss, Leonard Hoss, Ralph Kessler, Harold and Helen (Hoss) Bruning, Donna (Hoss) and Daryl Wells and Patricia (Hoss) Cornelson, and nephews Daniel Guerdet and Jim Wells.
Mass of Christian Burial befell at 10:30 a.m., Monday, Nov. 20, at All Saints Catholic Parish-St. Joseph Church, Le Mars. The Rev. Doug Klein celebrated Mass. Burial adopted in Calvary Cemetery, Le Mars. Visitation with the household current was started at 4 p.m., Sunday, on the church, with a Catholic Daughter’s rosary at 5:30 p.m. and a scriptural prayer service at 7 p.m. Visitation was additionally one hour earlier than the Mass on Monday.
