LE MARS—Clifford ‘Cliff’ Koerselman, 87, of Le Mars, handed away Friday, Nov. 17, 2023, at his residence in Le Mars surrounded by his household.
Clifford Lee Koerselman, the son of Gerrit and Emma (Smit) Koerselman, was born on Might 17, 1936, in Hull. He attended nation faculty in Sioux County, and later highschool in Sioux Middle. He graduated from Sioux Middle Excessive Faculty in 1953. Following highschool, he labored varied jobs within the Sioux Middle space.
He enlisted in america Military on Jan. 13, 1956. He served his nation whereas stationed stateside at Ft. Meyer, Virginia, adjoining to Arlington Nationwide Cemetery. He was discharged from lively obligation on Jan. 12, 1958, and joined the Reserves. He was honorably discharged from the Reserves on Sept. 30, 1961.
After returning to Sioux Middle, he went to work for the Sioux Middle Creamery, hauling milk.
He was united in marriage to Verda Oltmanns on Sept. 28, 1960, at Christ Lutheran Church, rural Le Mars. He continued working for the creamery. In 1961, they moved to a farm close to Middleburg, and he started farming.
In 1963, they moved to the household farm in Grant Township, rural Plymouth County. He farmed and raised livestock. In 2003, they moved to their residence in Le Mars. After shifting to Le Mars, Cliff nonetheless loved serving to his son on the farm in addition to space farmers.
He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church – Grant Township, the place he had been council president, deacon, trustee, lively in males’s group, and served on the cemetery board. He was additionally a member of the Heeren-McHale-Wilkens American Legion Put up 724 of Brunsville. He served on the Plymouth County Zoning Board and labored for the A.S.C.S. workplace in Le Mars. Survivors embody his spouse of 63 years, Verda of Le Mars; a son: Bruce (Beth) Koerselman of Le Mars, and their youngsters: Katy (Francois) Model, Konner Koerselman, and Kody Koerselman; a son: Doug Koerselman of Sioux Metropolis, and his youngsters: Parker Koerselman (Chloe), Hannah Koerselman (Mac) and her daughter, Jaylin, and Levi Koerselman; a daughter: Jolynn (Clark) Goodchild of Le Mars, and their youngsters: Amber (Pat) Goodchild-Loftus, and Sarah (Chad) Martin and their youngsters, Myles and Blake; a daughter, Sandra (Randy) Christy of Kemah, Texas; and a son: Keith (Kristin) Koerselman of Le Mars, and their youngsters, Keaton Koerselman (fiancé, Alaina), and Kaleb Koerselman; his sisters-in-law, Wanda Oltmanns, Karen Hartman, and Jeanette Jensen; and several other nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in loss of life by his mother and father, Gerrit and Emma Koerselman; his father- and mother-in-law, J. Henry and Amanda Oltmanns; his siblings: Cornie (Elizabeth) Koerselman, Gary (Leona) Koerselman, Teneva (Invoice) Kroon, Gerdena (Marion) Wissink, and Esther (Invoice) Plantage; and his in-laws: Wendell Oltmanns, Merlyn ‘Mert’ (JoAnn) Oltmanns, Arlan Oltmanns, and Randall Jensen.
Funeral companies will probably be at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 22, at Christ Lutheran Church – Grant Township, 27071 C-16, rural Le Mars. The Rev. Trish Underberg and Vicar Grace Braun will officiate. Burial with army honors supplied by the Heeren-McHale-Wilkens American Legion Put up 724 of Brunsville will probably be at Christ Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation with the household current will start at 4 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 21, at Christ Lutheran Church. There will probably be a prayer service at 7 p.m. Visitation will proceed from 9:30 a.m. till service time on Wednesday on the church.
