One Withdrawal, One Spun in Closing Horse Inspection at MARS Maryland 5 Star

Elkton, Md.—Oct. 21—The ultimate horse inspection on the MARS Maryland 5 Star introduced the ultimate area for present leaping down from 16 to 14 this morning. Nice Britain’s Piggy March withdrew Chloe and John Perry and Alison Swinburn’s 10-year-old Irish Sport Horse gelding Brookfield Cavalier Cruise (Cavalier Carnival x Ryans Cruise) within the maintain field. The 16-year-old Thoroughbred gelding Campground (Forest Camp x Kneel), ridden by Erin Kanara and owned by Marnie Kelley, was not accepted by Floor Jury members Judy Hancock (GBR), Andrew Bennie (NZL), and Robert Stevenson (USA) upon reinspection.

March and Brookfield Cavalier Cruise beforehand sat in fifth after cross-country, and Kanara and Campground have been in eighth. The highest-10 now options 5 U.S. pairs, two pairs from Nice Britain, and one pair from each Eire and New Zealand. Mia Farley is the best ranked U.S. rider with David O’Connor’s 10-year-old Thoroughbred gelding Phelps (Tiz Now x Growth City Gal).

Present leaping for the five-star will run in reverse order beginning at 2:00 p.m.
